Why a small firm

Ownership

You will own a program area rather than a slice of one. There is no layer of people between you and the decision, which is the upside and also the cost.

Proximity to the mission

The people writing the proposal are the people who fly the sorties and brief the customer. Nobody here is insulated from whether the program actually works.

Speed

A decision that takes a quarter at a large prime takes a conversation here. That is real, and it is why some people leave larger firms for this kind of work.

Who you will work with

Former operators, aircrew, maintainers, analysts and program managers who have run this work in uniform and in industry, on programs that were not exercises.

What a candidate asks first

Nationality and clearance

Most of our roles need neither a U.S. clearance nor U.S. person status. We hire internationally, and for partner-nation programs local nationality and language are usually the qualification that matters. A minority of roles sit on U.S. government contracts that do require a clearance, U.S. person status, or the ability to obtain unescorted access to a military installation. Those requisitions say so explicitly.

Deployment reality

It varies by role and we state it plainly on each one. Technicians go where the aircraft is and rotate heavily. Business development and proposal roles travel but are not deployable.

W-2 vs contract

Operational and program roles are W-2. Advisory roles are typically 1099. Each requisition says which, because it changes your tax position and your benefits.

How we pay

Competitively for the tempo, and we do not publish bands. Compensation is discussed at first interview rather than negotiated at offer, so neither side wastes the other’s time.

First 90 days

Every requisition states what the first 90 days looks like and what you are expected to own by the end of them. If it is vague on the page, it will be vague in the job.
