Fuel & Terminal Operations

Assistant Terminal Superintendent.

Second in command of a Defense Fuel Support Point and the hands-on lead for daily operations. You run the floor, you operate alongside the crew, and you hold the terminal when the Superintendent is away.

First 90 days

This is a working lead role, so competence has to be visible rather than described. By day 30 you can run a rack shift, gauge and sample a tank and complete a quality test without supervision. By day 60 you have taken a pipeline receipt overnight on your own, including line displacement and custody transfer. By day 90 you are qualified to act as Superintendent, you are training operators rather than being trained, and the crew treats you as the person to ask.

Requirements

  • Three or more years in fuel terminal operations within the last five years, covering tank truck, pipeline and tanker or barge movements
  • Hands-on operation, maintenance and repair of a bulk petroleum storage terminal
  • Able to run a receipt overnight unsupervised, including line displacement and custody transfer
  • Sampling and on-site quality testing, with the records to prove the product met specification
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER, a valid driver's license, able to lift 50 lb and climb tank ladders in Florida heat

Apply for this role

This is a named key personnel role on a Defense Logistics Agency contract Alpha Federal is competing for, and it becomes a job only if the contract is awarded to us. The selected candidate signs a letter of intent, allows their resume to be submitted with the proposal, and commits to the start date and the first sixty days on site.

The distinguishing question at interview is not what you have supervised. It is what you have personally run, where, and how many times.
